About
Information in regards to how Buddify works and operates.
What is Buddify?
Buddify is an online application developed for AKQA with the goal of fostering stronger work relationships among individuals. It works by pairing people randomly and assigning them to dates with their designated buddy.
In case the number of individuals in a group is odd, the application generates a random date consisting of three individuals. This ensures that no one is left out and forced to sit alone for the duration of the program.
By facilitating these connections and encouraging communication and collaboration, Buddify aims to create a more cohesive and productive work environment.
User Management
To add users or dates to Buddify, you must have an account with the necessary permissions to access the admin dashboard. This is to prevent unauthorized changes and ensure the security of the application.
To obtain these permissions, you can request them from your current group leader or reach out to Alexander.Sommer@akqa.com with your request.
Restricting access to the admin dashboard helps maintain the integrity of the application and prevents unwanted changes that could compromise the system. By controlling access to the dashboard, the application can operate efficiently and effectively, delivering the intended benefits to users.
How does it work?
Buddify stores all user, date, and date data in an external database called Supabase.
Authorized users are not granted permission to access the database directly. Instead, all necessary tools for adding, editing, and deleting dates and users are provided through the frontend.
To ensure data reliability and protection against potential data loss, backups of dates and users are generated every two weeks when new buddies are assigned. These backups serve as a contingency plan to recover lost data in case of system failure or other unforeseen circumstances.
